Why God?
If God is a God of love,
why did He allow this to happen to me?

How do you explain that God is a
God of love. . .to the family, friends and co-workers of those killed in the
Trade Center & Pentagon tragedies?

How do you explain that God is a
God of love. . .to parents, whose child was killed in a school massacre or
brutally murdered on the street?

How do you explain that God is a
God of love. . .to a child who has been physically, sexually and emotionally
abused through her tender years?
How
do you explain that God is a God of love. . .to an abandoned mother with
small children whose husband has fathered children by someone with whom he is having an
affair while still married to his wife?
How
do you explain that God is a God of love. . .to a father whose wife just
died of Leukemia leaving him with five children under the age of ten?

Oftentimes God gets blamed for the nefarious
(evil) works of the devil. The devil is real. The devil is your adversary, as
a roaring lion, walking about seeking whom he may devour." (I Peter 5:8) He is out to
steal, kill and destroy. The devil is a liar, he is not only a liar but the father of all
lies (John 8:44) Thats the bad news!
The good news is Jesus said, "...in the
world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."
(John 16:33) The devil doesnt want you to know that.
The devil also doesnt want you to know
that "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Notice He did
not say we would not experience trouble, but that he would be a very present help in
trouble (Psalm 46:1) When you get a chance read the whole 46th Psalm.
You may go through some deep waters in this
life. The devil doesnt want you to know that God promises that "When (you) pass
through the waters, (He) will be with (you); and through the rivers they shall
not overflow (you): when (you) walk through the fire, (you) shalt not be burned;
neither shall the flame kindle upon (you)."(Isaiah 43:2)
There are lots of things the devil doesnt
want you to know. Through our darkest hour the Lord promises that He "is my light and
my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be
afraid? Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war
should rise against me, in this will I be confident. (Psalm 27:1,3) If fact, read the
whole 27th Psalm.
You say, but you do not understand, I lost a
child! How could anyone stand that kind of heartache? You may have even said, God where
were you when my son died? Listen closely and you will hear Him say, the
same place I was when Mine died.
The devil doesnt want you to know the
Lord promises that "He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their
wounds." (Psalm 147:3) and that He says, "...I will never leave
thee, nor forsake thee." (Hebrews 13:5)
You see if you have placed your trust in God your
future is as bright as the promises of God. You just need to know what those promise
are. Space does not permit me to list all the promises you will find contained in His
Word.
Remember, it is God who created the mountain
peaks and it is God who created the valleys. Dont you think Hes big enough to
understand your valleys? I Corinthians 13:12 says, "For now we see through a
glass darkly; but then face to face; now I know in part; but then shall I know even as
also I am known." You need to trust His heart for He knows yours! Allow
Him to go with you through the valleys. Yes, even "the valley of the shadow of
death" for it is there "...his rod and his staff will comfort you." (Psalm
23:4)
I already told you the devil is a liar, But you
also need to know that "God is not a man that he should lie, nor a son of man, that
he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not
fulfill? I have received a command to bless; he has blessed, and I cannot change it."
(Numbers 23:19, 20)
"Blessed is she who has believed that what
the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!" (Luke 1:45) "For the revelation
awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger,
wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay." (Habakkuk 2:4)
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I
give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled,
neither let it be afraid." (John 14:27)
Do you know Jesus as your personal Saviour? Do
you really know Him? Would you like to know Him? Here is a promise the devil really
doesnt want you to know:
"...whosoever shall call upon the name
of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)
How do you call upon the name of the Lord? Talk
to him like you would to a friend. He is not looking for fancy words, but He sees your
heart. Pray words such as:
Lord Jesus, I ask you to come into
my heart and forgive me of all my sins. Cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I choose this
day to make you Lord of my life. If there is anything within me that is displeasing to
you, take it from me now. Teach me your ways O Lord. In Jesus name. Amen.
Read your Bible. Look for promises to you in
His Word. Ask the Lord to show you what
church to attend where you can grow spiritually and fellowship with other believers.
"He that believeth on me, as the scripture
hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." (John
7:38)

Friends, I was just browsing a
site on the Internet and ran across a beautiful answer to this question - "How Could
That Happen?" - It was entitled 9/11 Forever... in God's Hands
